ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
occurs when humans
take fish from the marine and freshwater sources at at at a a a a a a a a rate faster than fish can repopulate It’s the reason seafood is expected to be depleted from the oceans by 2048 Overfishing fis is a a a result of modern advancements in in the fishing techniques such as trawling and dredging which disrupt the physical habitat and biologic structure of ecosystems in the ocean Fish such as cod salmon and tuna are in danger as these make up the the vast majority of species fished for TRAWLING
Trawl nets which can be as as large as as a a a a a a a football field are either dragged along the the sea floor
or or midway between the the floor
and the the surface Trawling destroys the natural sea floor
habitat by essentially churning up the seabed All of the bottom-dwelling plants and animals are affected if not outright destroyed by tearing up root systems or animal burrows DREDGING
Dredging involves dragging a a a a heavy frame
with an attached mesh bag along the sea floor
to catch animals living on or or in in the mud or or sand catches include scallops clams and and oysters Dredging impacts marine organisms negatively through habitat degradation noise remobilisation of contaminants sedimentation and increases in in suspended sediment concentrations 97
