for construction of a church. The Machine Works contributed a bell forged in its
foundry to the project, and after construction ended, local Catholics christened their
new brick chapel “Saint Andrew’s.”
There is still work to do with the unsanitary conditions and the mysterious Big Lick
Fever that runs rampant through the citizenry every now and then. But with
cooperation the future is still bright for the city and its new as well as old citizens.
