Smudging
Tips !
Remember to leave brightest light area unshaded.
Use the hardness of the pencil to achieve dark and light tones.
Using hard charcoal for dark tones can scratch the paper.
lay a tissue on the paper where your hand rest to avoid smudging
unshaded areas.

This poisonous mushroom is called a Brick top mushroom cause it resembles the
reddish brown of a brick .The colour is saturated at the top and gradually fades at
the bottom of the cap .The technique use for this artwork is called smudging. This
method can createa soft bloom like effect . The smudging effect can be achieved
using Blending stumps, tissues, chamois, cotton swabs, cotton balls, foam pads,
and brushes. The smudging is done by rubbing on the charcoal to shade the area .
pressure will also effect how the outcome of the smudging.Time taken 4 hours
