Cross-Hatching

                                                        1    Start with a pencil outline .

                With a 2B pencil,The first layer is
                simply light hatchingto differrentiate the
                light parts and dark parts.
                Use the X pattern when shading.

                                                           Add darker shades under each fold on the
                                                           mushroom cap to make the texture more
                                                           prominent . so from the top of the fold is
                                                           dark , the middle is light and darker at the
                                                           drop. there is white tuffs on the strings
                                                           therefore just shade inbetween it .

 name as the top part of the muhroom looks like its peeling and creating a tuff texture.  6B pencil for this step.
 The top part is white but it gradually gets dark at the bottom creating a strings of
 blacks with white tuffs. This technique is called cross-hatching .It is done by stroking
 the graphite in an X pattern .It will gives off texture and the direction of the light aswell
 as the texture of the mushroom . Hatching can be done in any direction .Time taken 4
