“Your country needs you” said the man from MI5.
“Are you sure it is me you need?” Said Jenkins in disbelief.
“We have information that you are traveling to Berlin next week to visit the
NEUE NATIONALGALERIE to see the work of the Georgian painter Levitsky”
“This is true but how can I help?”
“There is one particular painting that we are interested in The Pantomime Horses.
We would like you to photograph it for us. Levitsky has been passing on secrets through his paintings
for years; be sure to get the left eye it contains a microdot, and we urgently need that information.”
“I will need you to come into the office tomorrow to sign the Official Secrets Act.
Until you leave I will deploy an agent to protect you, he is one of my best agents
his name is Knuckles and he will be watching from when you get home.”
Jenkins woke early the next morning excited by the prospect of being a spy. He made coffee
and went to the window. It was too early for the shops to be open and there was nobody on the street;
except for one man who stood in a shaft of sunlight coming through a gap in the buildings.
The man appeared happy to be seen and was passing the time by flipping a coin.
“Could this be knuckles?” Jenkins thought.
