WHAT ARE HARMOLAN YARNS?
Harmolan is a brand name for the polypropylene and Olefin fibers This brand name is only
used when this special process is followed. Harmolan is a sustainable material with a low
carbon footprint and strong performance.
WHY DO WE SAY THESE FABRICS ARE “UP-CYCLED”?
The polypropylene used to produce the Harmolan yarns are made out of waste from the oil
industry. When crude oil is refined, gasses are released that would normally disappear into
the sky. In this case gasses are captured and “cracked” into a powder. This powder is used to
produce granules. These granules are then melted, coloured pigments are added and these
are then extruded to form yarns. This process happens at a low temperature and no water is
added to the solution.
WHY IS THE PRODUCTION OF HARMOLAN “WATER – WISE AND WATER
FRIENDLY”?
The dying process (that naturally requires a large amount of water) is skipped as coloured
pigments are added to the granules to create the spinning solution. With this water
conservation, approximately 5000 litres of water per 1000 meters of yarn produced are saved.
To give you an idea that equals the amount of water you would get if you left the tap running
for 14 hours.
ECOLOGICAL
Harmolan can be recycled up to 10 times. With an average life cycle of 100 years. It is the most
durable man-made fibre available.
Producing Harmolan fibres requires no water. Through lower production temperatures,
we also reduce our energy use and by using no PFC chemicals, we limit our impact on the
environment on a daily basis
MORE METERS OF FABRIC
With Harmolan, we need less raw material to produce more fabric. Harmolan is the only fibre in
the world that’s lighter than water, and yet, its bulky character ensures a fabric with more body
and perfect coverage.

Eco-friendliness and a clean production process.
Harmolan fabrics are produced without water and harmful chemicals. Saving water happens on
two levels: One, because of their inherently colored fibers, our fabrics don’t need to be dyed.
Two, the fibers for our fabrics aren’t naturally grown, thus requiring no irrigation. Extruding
yarns and weaving fabrics also happens without water. To give you an idea: other synthetic fibers
can use up to 85 liters to produce 10 meters of fabric!
Easy to clean:
Harmolan is inherently anti – static. As it repels many damaging substances.
Harmolan fabrics do not absorb water, and are inherently dirt repellent, fast drying.
Using a mix of bleach and water the fabrics can be cleaned in no time. Thanks to Harmolan’s
excellent colour fastness and strength this wont harm the colours or fabric.
The fibre is resistant to chemicals, moulds and bacteria.
