The students in Class 6A were excited as they woke up on the first morning of their school skiing trip.
They all got dressed and hurried to have breakfast as fast as they could. The mountains around the
hotel looked amazing.
"What time do the skiing classes start?" asked Robert. "It's going to be so much fun!"
Their teacher, Mrs West, looked worried but smiled and said, "I have some bad news and some
good news."
The bad news was that there was no skiing for the first three days because the snow was too deep.
But the good news was that a pair of eagles was making their nest between some rocks on the
highest mountain. Many people thought this kind of eagle was extinct.
"There mustn't be any activity on the mountains at this time," Mrs West explained, "but we can do a
project about eagles instead."
"We studied extinct animals in our science lessons, and it was really interesting," said Robert.
The students were also happy when they found out that there was ice on a lake behind the hotel so
everyone could have ice skating classes for three days.
"It was funny when we actually started our skiing classes," Helen told her mum when she was back
home. "We kept falling over all the time because we were watching the eagles flying above us!"
