Emily Louise Harris Pusey, 79, of Snow Hill, and also
of Chincoteague, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at
her home in Chincoteague.
She was born October 31, 1934 in Salisbury, a
daughter of the late Ralph and Miriam Cherrix Harris.
Emily was proud of her Worcester County heritage
and spent most of her youth in Public Landing. She
retired in 1998 after over 30 years of service as a
secretary at Snow Hill High School. After retirement
she was never comfortable doing nothing, so she
worked various part time jobs at Souvenir City and
Tom’s Cove in Chincoteague and also worked as a
greeter at the Walmart in Pocomoke, a job she truly
enjoyed. She was a life member of Spence Baptist
Church in Snow Hill, where in her younger days she
taught Sunday school. She was also very active in the
JOY group at church and enjoyed eating out with her
friends. Some of her best memories were her trips to
the beach with family, especially the trips with her
grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth J. Pusey, Jr
(Barbara) of Snow Hill and Norris R. Pusey (Zandra) of
Girdletree; a daughter, Emily Dawn Hillman (Greg) of
Snow Hill; 7 grandchildren, Hunter Pusey (Megan),
Kyle Pusey (Ashley) Logan Pusey (fiancé Catie
Bowman), Eric Pusey, Erica Cook, Jonathan Hillman
(Michelle) and Colby Hillman (Tracy); and 6 great
