REEF KNOT

The reef knot, or square knot, is one of the most widely known

knots and is often the only one many people know. It is used to join

together the ends of the same size string, cord or rope. It should

only be used as a temporary join as it is not a secure knot and can

                work loose.

1 Take the two ends of your line and follow the time-honored instruction

for a reef knot—left over right.
