June 2018
Taking stock after the first seven months of my presidency, it is sad to have to report that so much time and energy has, of necessity, been channelled into our campaign against the RCVS November 2017 Position Statement on veterinary homeopathy (and other CAVM, although the
main target of the RCVS is clearly homeopathy). This has left precious little time for other matters which are arguably more important, i.e. the provision of service to animals and their human families and guardians and ensuring that this service
is in condition to continue for generati
ons to come. However, we unfortunately
must accept that the immediate threat to our practice of homeopathy has to be faced and overcome, whatever it takes.
I wish to thank those of you who have contributed to our cause, whether committee member or ‘other’, as every ounce of thought and energy injected into this campaign counts. Of course, ‘our’ public has also responded tremendously, in defence of what they perceive to be an essential tool for maintaining welfare of their animal companions and charges. Our gratitude for this has to be massive and unending.
At our ‘meeting’ with the RCVS president and others in April, we made clear what we had against the Position Statement and our grave concerns about the whole process. This has not so far
met with any positive
move on the part of the RCVS to discuss or debate the matter with us. We are, of course, willing to help the RCVS with any future position statement on
The British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons (BAHVS) was formed in 1981, to advance the understanding, knowledge and practice of homeopathy. It aims to stimulate professional awareness of homeopathy and to encourage and to provide
for the training of veterinary surgeons in the practice of homeopathy.
It is an open forum for differing approaches to the subject of veterinary homeopathy and it’s application, allowing for constructive interchanges of ideas.
