Cancer in Animals
Sue Armstrong Review by Geoff Johnson
Sue must have worked and studied devotedly for many years to produce this phenomenal contribution to homeopathy. Personally I have read nothing like it.
Despite the veterinary title, any homeopath dealing with cancer would greatly benefit from the knowledge contained within. Drawing on the writings of numerous homeopaths from Hahnemann to the present day, and on her own extensive experience, Sue has produced a work of weight. Clearly written, strongly bound and beautifully printed this is going to withstand years of re-visiting, reference and study, and that is what it is for. This book is no work of philosophy or fascinating and tempting concepts. It is about serious medicine for homeopaths dealing with the most complicated, one-sided, life threatening cases. This is a book encouraging us to achieve results that many would regard as impossible. Cancer and its causes are explored, alongside the remedies, which we can use to halt or reverse these processes. Families of remedies most indicated in cancer are highlighted, together with an extensive list of remedies known for their affinity for this multi- miasmatic affliction. Illustrated case studies demonstrate the application of the science. The evidence for homeopathic cancer treatment is explored. The materia medica and history of carcinosin and scirrhinum are detailed.
This is not an easy book; it is heavy. It requires concentration and deep study. That is why I started again from the beginning shortly after finishing it. I want to do what Sue does. I await the rest in the series with excitement.

Being in the house it’s like clipping his wings by Edward de Beukelaer, UK
The reason for this consultation was to help with a rescued dog who kept escaping.
He was rescued from Bulgaria with a very deformed jaw due to several fractures of the jaw. They had healed but in a poorly way, which meant he could not chew and had survived by lapping food. After rescuing him, the jaw was partially repaired, which meant he now could chew food even though the whole jaw structure was still skewed.
He had put up with quite some misery and pain in relation to the jaw fractures. He had suffered with fistulation below the right ear for many months due to a piece of bone being lodged in the corner of his mouth for quite some time. This fistulation had improved with Asa foetida but was finally fixed when the piece of bone was found and removed.
Now that he is fixed and with his new owner, his life had become good and he has put on weight. Of course being a Bulgarian shepherd cross type dog he needed an owner with a firm hand to make him listen.
When I see him, he is still wary because of previous pains but he is better, he does not want his nails clipped, he fidgets away. He is a nice dog.
Let’s listen to the owner
‘He legs it at every opportunity. He has fun, when he escapes. He tries to escape out of the house, he legs it through the windows: he crawled through a tiny window the other night.
He gets plenty of exercise and we have a massive garden. All day long he lies with the other dogs. We walk him in a secluded park so he cannot escape. He will not wee on a short lead.
At 10.30 pm he starts to look to run off: it is probably because he wants to run after the deer, he wants to chase: deer, rabbits, foxes: he is not interested in killing them, he has no instinct to kill. He wants to have fun. He knows his name but he does not know the rules. In the evening he is reluctant to come in the house. He will be fine during the day and lays around in the house when I am inside.
During the day they (the dogs) get put in the stables when I am away: he loves it there. He is fine staying in the stable at night: he will not try to escape out of the stable at night. He is good with the other dogs, he always has a waggy tail: he always wants to play and he is like a
puppy still (18 month old). He is a happy free spirit, he runs off with socks and all sorts he does not destruct things much. He has no rules in his life, it is all about play and play.
When my ex-husband looked after him for 2 days, he did not eat till I was back. He then ate only in the evening; he is a night owl. He does not get up early in the morning and only takes his breakfast later. The only thing he does not like is coming to bed at night: he does not want to come in the house he puts his brakes on. In the evening I have to catch him by opening the stable: he loves going in the stable. He is quite obedient in the day but not in the evening: he is very determined to escape.
It is like clipping his wings: once the door of the house is shut he has to get out. But in the stable he is fine.’
During the consultation he stays in a corner of the consult room. He associates us with the pains he has endured in relation to his jaw problems. He will happily take treats and generally seems a happy dog.
Solution
What strikes me is that he is happy to stay in the horsebox at night but not the house. The last phrase of the owner: ‘it is like clipping his wings’ suggest the issue here is about wanting to have fun (in the evening). He even escaped through a tiny window (he is a big 30 kg dog). Based on this I prescribed Agnus castus 200, 2 doses. This is the remedy that was supposed to be used to stop the sexual urges of the newly recruited young members of abbeys and other clerical organisation: stop them from wandering away.
This dog was castrated early, there were no sexual urges but the whole story was about having fun and having this fun taken away in the evening. But being in a bare stable in the evening was fine.... I thought to myself: a bare stable... a cell in a cloister..? That was too tempting not to try. I received the following E- mail one month later:
Thought you would like to know, I was outside doing the horses until 9.45 last night. Lesh had been with me but I hadn't seen him for a bit, then thinking, uh oh I bet he’s run off. Went in, doors all wide open and there he was snoozing in the doorway. This stuff Edward gave him is brilliant! Might need to give it to any future husbands to stop them wandering!
