Report of the IAVH Congress 2025,
Nuremburg by Peter Gregory
The 2025 IAVH Congress was held in conjunction with the 25th International Congress for Holistic Veterinary Medicine of the GGTM (Gesellschaft für Ganzheitliche Tiermedizin) in Nuremburg, starting on Friday April 25th 2024, the day after the IAVH Board meeting. It was titled ‘Nosodes, tautodes and remedies for daily practice’.
The conference was opened by IAVH President Don Hamilton, who continued by making the first presentation on ‘Bowel Nosodes as Supplemental
Remedies’. He described three fascinating cases, one of which was Charlie, a 4 y.o. cat with a long history of bouts of anorexia and an aggressive personality, which seemed to develop after neutering. A succession of homeopathic remedies helped him, in particular Natrum muriaticum. Nat. mur. is associated with three bowel nosodes, but Charlie’s symptoms fitted Sycotic Co most closely, and a short course of that nosode in 12c potency returned his appetite to normal. He needed the occasional dose to keep him on track but a follow up report 18m later described a happy and healthy cat.
After the coffee break UK National representative (Nat rep) Peter Gregory spoke on ‘Calling on the nosodes’. He started by singing the first verse of ‘You’ve got a friend’by Carole King, and used this theme to show how nosodes of various types can come to the rescue when ‘well indicated remedies fail to act or to cure’. This included ‘Chester, a
horse with alopecia who finally responded to Arsenicum after the bowel nosode Dysentry Co had led the way.
Next our Argentina Nat rep Carolina Gonzáles presented a fascinating talk bringing to our attention the work of Ryke Geerd Hamer (1935-2016), a German doctor, on emotional conflict. He found certain types of conflict had clear correlations with specific images on brain scans. His study was rejected by the University of Tubingen; Carolina put his fate alongside that of Hahnemann and Hering. In 1984 he published Krebs - Krankheit der Seele‘ (Cancer – disease of the Soul). One of his most important findings was that disease always follows an emotional stress and that the response of the body follows a specific pattern, dependent on the nature of the stress. Carolina also talked about the ‘Funnel system’ of narrowing down the choice of prescription. She demonstrated how knowledge of these concepts can be used to the benefit of patients, citing two
