integrative care refers to increasing the harmony and coherence of the whole being, so patients with long-term conditions are offered a wide range of opportunities to enhance their health and quality of life. The place itself had a tranquil yet competent feel about it with lots of light and views to the garden from every room integrating art and the building itself as a whole in the treatment – a good place to heal!
I made my choice for this Congress mainly because of the line-up. It goes without saying, that David Lilley was reason enough to go. David did a session on ‘The Garden of Eden’ as an introduction to the next volume, the Science of the Archetype’, in his series, which I personally cannot wait to read. His lovely wife, Paddy, was as always by his side.
On the veterinary front, Geoff Johnson, homeopathic practitioner and colleague in Somerset, did 2 sessions, the first on Sarcodes, ‘Yin and Yang – The Essence of Testosterone, Oestrogen and Progesterone’. Here Geoff introduced us to the sensation language and provings for these fascinating remedies, which so far only have very little information about their rememdy picture. But Geoff has managed to extract the essence for us in his piece on page 3 of this issue of the mag). The other session was on cured veterinary cancer cases illustrated by photos.
Dr Peter Fisher (clinical director at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine and editor-in-chief of ‘Homeopathy’) gave us an interesting and thought-provoking lecture on ‘Connecting with the strategic agenda: homeopathy, poly-pharmacy, antimicrobial resistance and multi-morbidity’. With this title
There was an old geezer from Dorset
With figure once slim as a faucet.
With Christmas fayre rife
He ate for his life
And now he resorts to a corset.
you know, that you’re in for something special, and we were! Here are some facts emerging from Dr Fisher’s lecture:
• No new class of antibiotic has been
introduced since the 1970’s
• Hahneman was in favour of vaccinations
• Multi-morbidity is strongly associated with
poly-pharmacy. In the “over-65’s”, half of the population in the Western World has more than 2 morbidities
• In the USA, adverse drug reaction is in the top-5 causes of death, more common than RTA’s
• Over 50% of European care home residents take more that 6 drugs together
• The old argument with the conventional world has always been the lack of scientific evidence for Homeopathy. But there is now over 300 RCT’s (peer-revieved and verified) for homeopathy: 45% with a positive outcome, 45% with an inconclusive (but possibly positive) outcome and less than 10% with a pure negative outcome for the effect of homeopathy.
• France is the European country, where most people use homeopathy regularly (over 50% vs Germany/UK each around 10-20%)
• Switzerland has brought homeopathy back into the national health insurance.
Please visit the website www.carstens- stiftung.de/core-hom for trials with homeopathy and other information relating hereto.
Not wishing to favour anybody by mentioning these few, but for me they were some of the more remarkable lectures I attended.
Others which also made an impression:
• ‘Obstacles to cure – toxicological tips –
lessening the load’ by Dr Charles Forsythe, where we were introduced to many of the regular toxic influences, we face every day and how they can affect the healing process. We learned, how we as health care practitioners can help our patients cope with everyday toxic causes and how the total toxic load in the body at any one time depends on the balance between input and output: exposure/absorption/retention vs excretion. For more information please consult www.bsem.org.uk.
• ‘Clinical application of CEASE therapy’ by Dr Christine Suppelt. Those of you, who are not familiar with this treatment form, please refer to Dr Tinus Smits website and books on the subject. CEASE stands for Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Disease and is mostly, but not solely, used in the treatment of Autistic children. Dr Smits used the method on more that 300 autistic children before his untimely death in 2010, many of these children were beyond conventional reach and many of them were declared completely cured after the treatment regime.
It was a first but might not be the last. I really liked the format with the different strings to choose from but for me, I’m not too sure it was value for money. I still long for the simple, inexpensive format of the Animal Energy conferences from a few years back. Call me old-fashioned!

Helios and Freeman’s Pharmacy/Saltire Books were just two of the sponsors at the conference.
