      President’s letter
 by Jane Keogh
  December 2014
As I sit writing this it is dark and wild outside, and the Winter Solstice is only days away. Despite the arrival of that moment of stillness that is the shortest day, it will be some time yet before there is any obvious increase in daylight.
As you read these words, hopefully the lengthening of the days will be much more noticeable, and as the Land stirs with the energy of Spring, we will all be filled with the energy of an exciting year to come.
And there is plenty to look forward to. Our
Spring Meeting on 14th March at The Friend’s House in London looks to be as excellent as last year. It has been moved on a month in the hopes of avoiding the extreme weather conditions of February 2014, though it seems that these days the weather makes up the rules as it goes along. The meeting looks
quietly and professionally taking a stand, this time to a packed audience (more than twice the expected number attending) and once again not a sceptic in sight. The British Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy also promoted its new course at the London Vet show, arousing considerable interest and over 100 enquiries about the course. Many may not follow this up, such is the nature of these things, but if only a small percentage take their enquiry forward, then we can hope to see the numbers of veterinary homeopaths begin to increase at last – well done to all involved.
Sadly, as many of you will be aware, Trevor Adams lost his fight against leukaemia on 23rd November. It was very special to see him at the Conference in York. With hindsight it may not have been a wise decision, but he was determined to be there, and it was great to see him enjoying lectures and spending time with friends. Peter Gregory and I went to his funeral
 Vomiting with such great thirst
Yet mouth is wet, what think we first? With such a paradox as this
It’s really not so hit and miss.
With ulcers too and foul of smell, The picture’s filling out so well.
Why are we wondering what to choose? ****’s the one to use.

set to be a good eclectic mix of more orthodox homeopathy and wider, energy-based practices. Details are on our website.
Our main Conference this year goes back to a three-day format by popular request, and is to be held in Dublin. It is lining up to be a fantastic fusion of homeopathic learning and social extravaganza. Places to stay on-site are on a first come first served basis, and a £50 deposit is sufficient to make sure you secure your place on what is likely to be a very memorable event.
Whilst it is important to look ahead to future events, it is also important to reflect on what has happened since last writing back in September. The annual Conference in York in late September was an enormous success, mainly due to the huge efforts of Stuart Marsden. Good homeopathy (thank you to all contributing) and great company as ever. With Ireland in September 2015 and Geoff Johnson and Nick Thompson offering to take on the Conference organisation for 2016, the future looks bright – don’t miss out!
Once again Geoff Johnson has taken the subject of homeopathy into the heart of mainstream veterinary practice, giving a talk at the London Vet Show in November [see Wendy’s report on page 2] . Thank you Geoff for
in Glastonbury in early December, along with Chris Day, Jack Hoare and several others. I feel we represented all of you, who knew and loved Trevor but could not make this final farewell. The church was packed with family, friends, colleagues and clients. Trevor touched many hearts during his life, and a bright light has gone out, though I hope that our memories of him will continue to burn brightly. We were blessed to have him in our homeopathic community.
So, as we enjoy lighter days and feel our own energy stirring, as the Land starts to open to the energy of Spring, we can reflect on events recently past and look forward, with enthusiasm, to an exciting and positive year ahead. In truth, we are more than just an Association, we are a community, providing support to all those that are a part of the whole. To all of you, and especially those members who have drifted away from regular participation, please resolve to play an active role in this years’ events and take your own experience of homeopathy forward, maybe rediscovering the joy of meeting with like minds and catching up with friends old and new.
Meanwhile, enjoy the arrival of Spring and I look forward to catching up with many of you over the coming months. T
