   IAVH President’s letter Ilze Pētersone
 Dear All,
In the Northern Hemisphere it’s almost midpoint of summer, harvest season is approaching! And, it seems all the work for the moment stops, so we take a breath and prepares for a new working season. However, peace is very deceptive and in the field of homeopathy there are activities that do not really allow us to stay on the side line.
IAVH is involved in the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance, (JPIAMR)
JPIAMR is a global collaborative organisation and platform, engaging 28 nations to curb antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with a One Health approach. Our members Maria Fernandez Portales Spain and Petra Weiermayer Austria are the part of this Project.
In the last IAVH Uber meeting Maria gave update on JPIAMR project.
JPIAMR coordinates national public investments from
member countries to support joint transnational research and networks within the six priority areas of the shared JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA)
The aim is to support transnational projects that make a significant contribution to research in the areas of human health, animal health and environmental health, with priority being given to the implementation of the One Health principle in research. Traditional & Complementary Medicine prevention and treatment strategies may reduce the prescription and consumption of antibiotics and may stimulate appropriate use of antibiotics.
Maria stated that it is great to be aware that, using different methods, we are prepared to achieve one common goal. We must not forget that we have common principles, and it serves as an inspiration to be aware of a deeper level where homeopathy can be very effective.
It is also encouraging that conventional and prestigious
medical/science centres support JPIAMR project, despite the fact that there are countries in which the political position is against homeopathy.
IAVH is proud to note that in May Petra Weiermayer gave a presentation on “The potential role of homeopathy to help reduce antimicrobial resistance” at the Faculty of Homeopathy.
The presentation was based on an article written by Petra and her colleagues (Weiermayer; M. Frass ,T. Peinbauer; L. Ellinger) and which was published in a conventional peer reviewed journal Swiss Veterinary Archives in October 2020
In the webinar, Petra focused on the evidence base for homeopathy and veterinary homeopathy by looking at systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The potential role of homeopathy in helping to reduce antimicrobial resistance was considered. The study was illustrated with
