The British Association of Homeopathic
Veterinary Surgeons (BAHVS) was formed in
1981, to advance the understanding, knowledge
and practice of homeopathy. It aims to stimulate
professional awareness of homeopathy and to
encourage and to provide for the training of
veterinary surgeons in the practice of
homeopathy.
It is an open forum for differing approaches
to the subject of veterinary homeopathy and it’s
application, allowing for constructive
interchanges of ideas.

Editorial introduction
Malene Jørgensen
November 2025
Hot on the heels of the summer edition, welcome to the autumn issue of the mag (we’re
playing catch-up here). Thanks to all who have contributed this time round or promised
articles for next time – we do appreciate your efforts.
Geoff Johnson starts us off with a case where he finds the influence of Jan Scholten an
inspiration to finding a remedy for a dog with neuro-musculo-skeletal problems, in his
article The Plight of Humanity (p2).
A dog suffering from severe anxiety of fireworks (p6) is presented by Stefan Kohlrausch
where Hyoscyamus seems to be the successful remedy on this occassion. And, it’s good to
hear from our long time friend and colleague in Switzerland Marc Bår with his case about
Charly, a neutered tom cat (p8).
Our own Junior Vice President Emily McAteer writes about her Travels in the name of
Homeopathy and reminds us of the fact that ‘we’re stronger together’ (p10). IAVH
President Don Hamilton updates us on recent and future international events (p12) and
Emily also presents a piece on Lacs from the perspective of a small animal vet (p13) with part
2 to follow.
As ever, we’re grateful to our regular advertisers in the mag, Helios Homeopathy, Honey’s
Real Dog Food and Freeman’s Homeopathic Pharmacy which I’m sure most of you know
only too well. Their contributions do help cover running costs for the mag and we hope their
involvement is rewarded with members showing commercial interest in their products.
Until next time, have a good end to 2025, a great festive season and all the very best for
2026.
Malene
