biology, it is quantum mechanics that one has to embrace to examine homeopathy. Quantum mechanics of the second quantification invariably applies, whatever the scale of the system, because it does not use mass but frequencies. An intrinsic system can be an atom, a molecule, a cell, a patient and a school of fish. Quantum mechanics of the first quantification is a reduction of quantum mechanical thinking that is possible and useful to work with mechanical parts.
Different paradigms offer more options not competition.
It appears difficult to align modern medical thinking and homeopathy, because the observations used are of different kinds. Conventional medicine uses observations based on the level of the individual parts and building blocks of the patient, while homeopathy looks at the individual as a whole in its reactions, responses and experiences.
A scientist examines the world around us using the tools available.
The result of the examination will depend on what tools are used. Biology can be examined using the molecular method or the quantum mechanical method.
Note that it has become generally accepted that a large part of peer-reviewed publications relating to medicine (85%) are either of questionable quality or offer very little medical benefit [2,3]. The curious scientist will wonder, whether this reflects the nature of the tools that were used to produce this vast amount of information. Is it not that molecular biology, after all these years of research, still cannot explain the exact working mechanism of enzymes in the cell? That more plausible explanations come from quantum mechanics [4]?
Why is the mainstream thinking then still only molecular based?
The curious scientist will look for other tools to investigate health issues by probing other medical methods and
approaches to find out what these other medical methods, such as homeopathy, have to offer. He/she will take time to understand their nature and see how appropriate research respecting the different medical approaches can help patients.
When one measures something, this will invariably influence the outcome.
One cannot measure two quantities that can be observed at the same time with an arbitrary precision, according to quantum mechanics. This complicates research relating to complex systems, which includes all biological systems.
Further, according to quantum physics, this is the same on whatever level one makes an observation: there are no different levels/states of observation; there is no variability in state. A quantum can be a photon, an atom, a molecule, a cell, an individual and even a group of individuals (like a swarm of starlings or a school of fish for instance); an intrinsic system is a quantum.
Once one accepts these facts of quantum physics, it become perfectly acceptable that something so small as a homeopathic medicine, of which the electromagnetic qualities rather than molecules are its ‘active ingredients’, can have an effect on the living.
All molecules in the cells are covered with a tiny layer of water. Quantum physics explains that the O-H bond in water allows for either 1 or 0 states, just like our computers; now this layer of water becomes a perfect two- dimensional support to store, receive and transfer information. This takes the step from molecular biology, to quantum mechanics biology, where all is determined by information. Now one can accept that the homeopathic medicine, which contains information on the inside surface of microscopic bubbles of water (or the surface of other carriers with -OH radicals), can have an effect on a complex system of information such as a patient.
Of course, you want the best for patients.
Modern medicine has made great progress in a number of fields. We must agree that there are still many gaps in our understanding of biology, significant shortcomings and side effects of conventional treatments, and too many patients do not obtain lasting benefit from modern medicine. As proof of this, research constantly searches for better/more treatments. Is it not the role of the scientist to use all available knowledge, tools, and thinking to improve medicine? It is time for the scientist to utilize the knowledge relating quantum mechanics to medicine to assure the best for patients, even if this is contrary to medical conventions.
I look forward to successful cooperation in a movement of integrative medicine, where different paradigms of medicine cooperate. This medicine will explore how to research and collaborate together and always keep patients at the heart of medicine.
