    Ebony
Ebony is an 18 month old female black Domestic Long Haired cat owned by alternative lady who had suffered an extreme mental breakdown 4 years previously.
She had her boosters 21-9-11, and two weeks later became very dull – lost her character. The vet could find nothing wrong. Then she picked up for a week, and then went down again, resulting in three courses of antibiotics. Now she has right-sided conjunctivitis and has been given eye ointment. She hasn’t eaten for two days and is just sitting miserably behind the computer.
In my surgery she came straight out of her box – confident and very beautiful. She explored carefully everywhere. Then she climbed up onto my sink and sat there looking around. She was very relaxed.
The interview
GJ: Tell me about her?
O: She is a right little madam – a challenge. She is well known, and comes for walks with me. She sits in the middle of paths to be loved, although she does that less now as dogs chased her. She hides pens and things in little crevices for fun, and chats to me in the morning.
GJ: What is extraordinary about her?
O: Her ability to love – she is so evolved. She watches TV. She is centre stage – “I am Ebony and can we do this? Here I am”. She has a joy of eating – always hungry – there will never be enough. She always wants feeding – it’s like having a dog. She likes drinking/eating oil e.g. sesame or almond oil. She was the runt of the litter – RSPCA rescue, and was constantly ill. When she was well she would climb the curtains. If owner is sitting on the settee she scratches it hard so the owner needs to sit on the floor – like she is territorial.
GJ: Does she like fuss?
O: On her own terms. She likes massage, and now allows herself to be combed. Occasionally she sits on owner – usually she’s out hunting. GJ: Is she sympathetic to you?
O: Not especially – she is tiring if I am ill.
GJ: Tell me more
O: She is a highly evolved steely woman who knows what she wants, is funny and enjoys every day. She is a show off and entertains. If owner goes out she is waiting by the door on her return. She has good eye contact. Owner gets the impression Ebony can see things that she can't.
GJ: More?
O: She like friends and seeks out a cat she can play with. She sits in the middle of a bridge so everyone has to go around her.
Analysis
Kingdom
There is no great call for any one kingdom here as I understand this method in veterinary homeopathy at this time. However, there is no rea- son to suspect animal here – me versus you, jealousy, movement, sexu- ality, hierarchy, territory. The animal remedy, she looks most like, might be a big cat, as she is so confident in my surgery. However, the lack of sympathy with the owner rules this out. There is not particularly great sensitivity mentioned. Hence by exclusion the mineral kingdom was con- sidered first.
Row
The cat has great presence, and the owner twice referred to her as being evolved. This could suggest nearer the bottom of the periodic table – rows 5, 6 or 7. The desire to be seen and noticed – “centre stage” – could
