Vaccination
reaction in kittens
by Edward de Beukelaer, UK
Two 12 weeks old Bengal kittens were vaccinated (calici virus, herpes virus and parvo virus) using purevax® (Merial). One developed a high temperature 2 weeks later and another a few days later again. Both kittens became very lame on the left fore leg due to a painful elbow. They were hunched up, miserable, trembling and not eating.
The first one was treated conventionally (NSAID’s), which did not make much difference 2 days later.
Repertorisation:
after a vaccination. It also has a reputation for helping with bladder issues, especially in cats, when there are territorial issues, when they perceive loss of territory. Mark Brunson talks about the sense of loss of their reserves: the safety they have accumulated (work, family, etc) they (can) loose.

So why did I choose Sarsaparilla in this case? It was a bit of a gut feeling at the time but looking at it in hindsight I can come up with the following explanations:
Sarsaparilla is one of the important remedies for post-vaccine reactions. Also, none of the other
Both kittens were given Sarsaparilla 200C, one dose and both were back to normal in 24 hrs.
Incidentally, the next litter of kittens (3) from the same queen had the same reaction to vaccines. This time the vaccines used was Leucorifelin® (Virbac). These kittens responded also very quickly to a dose of Sarsaparilla 200C the owner still had.
Sarsaparilla has a reputation for treating eruptions
remedies seemed to fit the case. Sarsaparilla was present in the 2nd degree in pain in elbows and has pain to touch in 4th degree in generals (complete repertory).
Further: this breeder is very conscientious and puts much effort in producing offspring, which are as healthy as possible. She does not have many litters each year because she is getting old. Does she perceive a sense of loss of her reserves? I did not ask.
