Some spent Thursday in Sofia sightseeing; the Guided Sofia Tour was quite popular. The city has good walking access, with two pedestrianised streets. The Metro is modern and clean, and Metro tunnels allowed easy travel under the large boulevards. A number of us stayed in the Magic Castle Hotel, a short walk from the Hilton and the National Palace of Culture, which were the conference venues. A pre-AGM was held Thursday afternoon to allow extra time for discussion of certain topics, as the AGM was scheduled for just 4 hours.
The AGM was held Friday morning 16 November, with 20 participants. There were several items of particular interest:
• We recognised the new Spanish NR, Maria Fernandes, and the new Austrian NR, Petra Weiermayer.
• Liesbeth Ellinger announced the beginning of a new dairy farm research project, comparing health and welfare data before and after farmers receive training in homeopathy.
