Taking stock of this year, I think it has been a positive one for BAHVS. Last month we had our first face to face meeting since the start of the pandemic at Barbara Jones organic farm near Oswestry . It was the first time we’d seen each other in person for nearly two years and it was also a first in that it was a blended meeting with people attending via Zoom as well. There is a write up on the meeting by Jane Keogh in this mag (p15) but it was a truly landmark occasion in which really rekindled our sense of connection with each other and homeopathy. We are looking forward to organising a day meeting in the Spring where we can have a similar blended event.
The Faculty of Homeopathy has also provided some excellent lectures, including ones by Edward de Beukelaer and Petra Weiermayer and the latest was Geoff Johnson’s inspiring exploration of the lanthanides.
It is the Faculty’s 100th anniversary in 2022 and we plan to join them in a joint conference to celebrate such a huge milestone.
On another positive note the booklet; A veterinary Guide to Holistic Therapies which Mark Elliott and I edited, has been distributed to all final year veterinary students at the RVC, and Glasgow, Liverpool, Harper Adams/Keele, Surrey and Dublin vet schools as well being distributed as a digital version to the IAVS. It has also gone out to vet nursing students at Myerscough and Writtle colleges. I will be taking copies to the London Vet Show in November to give out to vets and vet students and will keep spreading the word about the importance of holistic therapies in general and homeopathy in particular.
