President’s letter – A wider audience
Dear Friends
Since my last message we have had our Officers meeting in Vienna. This was very kindly sponsored by Thomas Zimmel, who is the owner and edi- tor of Vet-Magazin, a group who publishes an e-magazine on veterinary medicine. The group is based in Austria and the magazine has German, Swiss and Austrian versions; non-German speakers can of course access these by using the translation facility on their browser. There are also Slovenian and Rumanian versions. Like all publications of this type, they are always happy to receive articles (known in English as ‘copy’) so this pro- vides us with a great opportunity to get our message of homeopathy out to a wider audience. Case histories etc. can be submitted through our secre- tary, Helene, but also we have the option of sending on selected articles from the ZGTM or the ‘Mag’ – with the author’s permission of course.
It was also a pleasure to spend some time with some of our colleagues from the Austrian National Organisation (the ÖGVH), particularly the presi- dent Erich Scherr and our Austrian National Representative Petra Weiermayer. We also had a very pleasant evening with our old friend, Peter Knapfl.
I can report that our Association continues to expand. Firstly we extend a warm welcome to our colleagues from the Japanese Academy for Veterinary Homeopathy (JAVH) who have joined under the umbrella scheme and bring us over a hundred new members. We welcome the President Futoshi Hamada; our National representative remains Keiji Morii, assisted by Minako Kuroda. Next we welcome our colleagues in the Sociedad Española de Homeopatía Veterinaria (Spanish Society of Veterinary Homeopathy). Our Spanish National Representative is Jose Ramon Torre Blazquez, Finally a belated welcome to our members in Slovenia who joined back in July 2012. Our National Representative there is Maja Maria Holecek, I apologise for the lateness of this greeting! This brings us up to 565 members in 32 countries, a formidable number. On behalf of the Association I look forward to the active participation our new members, and I confidently expect you will gain an equal amount in return.
So we continue to get stronger and we are of course looking forward to our Board Meeting in Nuremburg in April. On the days beforehand we will be providing speakers for the Annual Congress of the GGTM. There will be two days of lectures on homeopathy, designed to cover the needs of begin- ners and experienced veterinarians alike; we hope this will help our German colleagues in the continuing development of veterinary homeopathy in their country. Please come along!
We will also be holding a Materia Medica workshop to finalise the for- mat and organisation of the MMVH project. The research website is now up and running and we thank Mark Elliott and his team for all their hard work. Please have a look at it on
www.homeopathicvet.org. Here in
UK there is a growing feeling of
Spring. As I write, the first flowers
(the snowdrops) are opening up
and the days are getting longer.
There is a feeling of anticipation
and a promise of new things to
come. The IAVH is in a similar state
of growth - exciting times!
I wish you peace in your hearts and success in your practice.

IAVH General Secretary report
The official tasks for the General Secretary included collecting the agen- das for the Skype conferences of the 6th March, 10th July and 2nd October, participating in the officers meeting on the 1st and 2nd December in Vienna/Austria and the IAVH board meeting 2013 on the 7th April in Nuremberg/Germany. Other important tasks were taking and revising the minutes from the meetings in cooperation with the IAVH office and reviewing the translation of the president s letter into German.
It was my pleasure to organise the officers meeting in the beginning of December 2012 in Vienna, Austria. Peter Gregory (president), Andreas Schmidt (treasurer), Markus Mayer (office) and I (General Secretary) used this opportunity to discuss structural and organisational issues in prepa- ration for the Board Meeting in Nuremberg.
Key points were finances, application of Don Hamilton for the position of the treasurer, further cooperation with LIGA and ECH, PR and sponsor- ship, the Materia Medica project and the organisation of the board meet- ing in Nuremberg.
We took the opportunity to meet Dr. Erich Scherr, president of the Austrian Association for Veterinary Homeopathy (ÖGVH) and Dr. Petra Weiermaier, IAVH National Representative and board member of the ÖGVH to discuss specific points of an intensified cooperation between IAVH and ÖGVH in the future. Another informal meeting was organised with Dr. Peter Knafl to exchange news and discuss intended projects.
The annual Board Meeting 2013 was organised as a satellite confer- ence to the GGTM congress for holistic medicine between the 5th and the 7th April in Nuremberg, Germany.
Following the seminars for beginners and advanced with internation- al speakers the IAVH held the annual Board Meeting on the 7th of April 2013 [more in next issue].
