   President’s letter
    November 2018
There’s nothing like holidays, gardening, work and the constant pressure of the RCVS ‘Statement’ to make time fly. I don’t believe I’ve had a year go faster, as we look at a mere fifty days to the Big ‘C’. I find myself under the watchful and dutiful eye of Malene yet again, as the deadline for the ‘mag’ is upon me. At least my letter will be bang up to date at time of going to press!
The RCVS welcomed a new President (Mrs Amanda Boag) this summer and Ilse and I shall be meeting with her and Ian holloway (Director of Communications) on Wednesday 21st November. I really have no idea how that meeting will go but, as before, we shall put our case and discuss options and issues surrounding the ‘Statement’, which has just passed its first anniversary. We shall of course listen to the RCVS point of view, as it stands under the new leadership. In homeopathy we have a seeming paradox, which many sincerely find difficult to handle. It can appear both arcane and insane, until one observes it and uses appropriate mental tools to work with it. We must be sensitive to this and do our best to build bridges.
We held our Annual conference in Liverpool last month, in tandem with the biennial Congress of the Faculty of Homeopathy. geoff Johnson put in a sterling performance in organising our part of the event and it all went very smoothly. Feedback was 100% positive. There were many stimulating and forward-looking presentations and the veterinary session was also attended by several medics, who have always supported us and enjoy hearing our experiences. It was a mutually beneficial event and, unless there is a turnaround in opinion in the meantime, it looks as if we shall be repeating the exercise in 2020. Meanwhile, we can look forward with eager anticipation to our own annual event next Summer, in Stirling. Wendy Mcgrandles has reported advanced preparations. Other events will be organised during the year, so please keep an eye on BAHVS.COM, that wonderful creation of Malene and Phil (opportunity here for a plug for contributions to website and mag. – these voice-pieces of our Association are a reflection of the energy we put in, so please contribute.)
The British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons (BAHVS) was formed in 1981, to advance the understanding, knowledge and practice of homeopathy. It aims to stimulate professional awareness of homeopathy and to encourage and to provide for the training of
veterinary surgeons in the practice of homeopathy.

It is an open forum for differing approaches to the subject of veterinary homeopathy and it’s application, allowing for constructive interchanges of ideas.
The BAHVS does not necessarily endorse products or the companies advertised.
