Benefits Of Using Natives In Your Garden
Natives plants are often water wise saving valuable water, plus your time and money.
They tend to be hardy and able to adapt to the local conditions more easily. The use of pesticides, fertilisers and of course constant water once established tends to be minimal, that said it is important for healthy growth that they do not experience stress from either extended periods of constant drought and extreme frost, even though a lot of natives are frost and drought hardy.
Native landscaping implementation can also improve air quality that will impact on not only a local level but also globally, as it is said 'every bit helps'. Places where there is heavy smog, toxic air is drastically reduced through the use of planting natives, trees, shrubs, & plants in general.
Of course changing the way we co-create would improve our air, however this seems to be a slow process, then each and everyone of us can plant a tree, shrub, ground cover as it all helps to 'green our world' creating a happier and healthier environment for all to enjoy.
Remember you can always mix your exotic plants with your native plants to create an amazing oasis.
