   The Installation Process:
Profiles
Wall
Stretch ceiling or wall membrane does not require effort from the homeowner, designer or contractor as we do the installation for you! We offer a three-day course to train and certify installers. In a new build or renovation, walls, ceiling or roof, and electrical wiring need to be finished before installation starts. While the membrane can go on over an unfinished or semi-finished wall or ceiling, it will not be possible to get behind the installed membrane to finish the surface later unless our installers come back.

Walls and ceiling around the edges of the area to be covered should all be fully painted or finished, and the finish should be fully dry and cured. Stretch ceiling does not require adhesive materials, cement, paint, or sanding, so no special cleaning will be required afterward.
The process is streamlined and simple. First, we visit the site and take exact measures of all the spaces that we will be covering. We then transmit these measurements back to our North American headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. If there is any large furniture right up against the walls, it will need to be moved out for the installation, which is by appointment. Nothing needs to be moved to another room unless the room is very small or crowded.
On installation day, we start by bringing in the wall fastenings, or profiles. Extruded strips of plastic or aluminum (the type of profile will depend on the material that has been chosen for the ceiling membrane, and whether or not it is a ceiling or wall mount) which have already been cut to size to fit the length of each of the sides of the membrane to be installed. Profiles could be cut on site, but every cut edge has to be hand filed to prevent damage to the membrane, so to speed the installation process and cut down on mess, we do it in advance at our headquarters. This could be the length of four walls surrounding a ceiling, but many ceilings are less regularly shaped.
No matter how many wall surfaces are involved, or what angles they are on to each other, we install profiles all the way around. If the ceiling is to be angled, we install the profiles to follow the angle. The same happens if you choose to have a membrane installed over an entire wall or on part of a wall (as an oversized art piece, for instance). Multiple drywall screws are used to mount the profiles. They do not need to go into the studs, as the number of them that we use and their holding strength in drywall is sufficient to support the fully tensioned ceiling. Profiles may be screwed to the wall or ceiling to be covered, or to the surrounding walls and ceiling, depending on which profile is chosen.
All existing or added ceiling fixtures, such as pot-lights, chandaliers, speakers, ventilation system, are recessed to the hight of type of profiles chosen for the project. So, at the end stage, such fixture can be secured by thermoplastic ring, cut through and concealed by a fixture trim. Laqfoil installers make sure that the perfect level of the membrane is protected and all covering trims are perfectly aligned.
