Volunteer Fire Departments. The instructor for this
training event was APGA's Kenny Strength. Strength,
a Fire Captain and 25 year veteran firefighter and
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Prat-
tville Fire Department, also teaches APGA's Dispens-
ing Propane Safely and Hazardous Materials classes.
Blossman Gas of Prattville Branch Manager, Tony
Franks, and Bobtail Driver, Kameron Kennedy, were
on hand to share equipment insight and answer
questions for attendees. APGA would like to give a
special thanks to Blossman Gas of Prattville and Tony
Franks for donating the propane required for the live
burn training session. APGA would also like to thank
Supplier Members, Doug Rowan (Tarantin Industries)
and Steve Smith (Gas Equipment Co.) for donating a
block gauge and a combustible gas indicator for the
            new propane emergencies classes.
New Training Curriculum from IAFC - PERC Partner-
            ship
The curriculum for this class has been creat-
ed in partnership between the International Associa-
tion of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and The Propane Education
& Research Council (PERC). Through the IAFC-PERC
partnership, critical education and training are de-
livered to fire service leaders, first responders, and
industry personnel nationwide. The IAFC and PERC
have worked together to develop, provide, and pilot
            a combination of self-service web-based and in-per-
son instructor-led propane training. These efforts
serve as an important foundation from which to
build and strengthen our partnership. This endeavor
will enhance the quality and impact of education and
training efforts in readying fire service leaders and
emergency responders nationwide to respond and
operate safely at propane incidents. The Operations
level training aims to develop competencies and pro-
fessional qualifications for operations level respond-
ers who are assigned mission-specific responsibilities
at hazardous materials incidents which are beyond
the competencies acquired at the operations level.

                    Building on the foundational knowledge
firefighters have on the fundamental propane char-
acteristics, risks, regulations, safety, and indications
            of potential propane-related emergencies. Propane
Emergencies Training for Operations Mission Spe-
cific Responders provides specific knowledge about
