Barbara Klein, Grace Klutschkowski, Ann Meyer, Barbara Monie, Kathy Wyraz,
and Virginia Van Slyke. Recognizing that homelessness has become a visible and
significant issue in Utica, the committee selected the Rescue Mission as the recipient.
This organization has a well-run and effective program that is making a dent in the
problem. A call for donations is sent to the residents in early summer, with followup
reminders, and the campaign concludes in late July.
The donation was presented at a presentation ceremony by the koi pond at the
Preswick Glen main building on Wednesday, September 10, to Rescue Mission
CEO Wendy Goetz, who was accompanied by Phil King, member of the Board of
Directors. Attending were many residents and the guests stayed for a social hour
and dinner.
Although many residents support local charities individually, this provides them
the opportunity to act as a community to help those who are struggling and in need,
LtoR: Phil King, Larry Calabrese, Grace Klutschkowski, Patty Bowen, Robin Kinnel, Ann and a significant number of them participate in the campaign.

Preswick Glen Community Donates
$ 9700 to Rescue Mission
Each year for the past decade, with the exception of the COVID year, the residents
of Preswick Glen have made a collection of money to provide a local charity with
a significant donation that could provide the basis for a major improvement or
new program. Over the years organizations like Hope House, Abraham House, the
Center (formerly the Refugee Center), the Veterans Outreach Center and Sleep in
Heavenly Peace have been recipients of funds from the Preswick residents.
A group of dedicated residents, the Giving Committee, meets in the spring to
choose the designated charity for the year. This year’s Giving Committee consisted
of Patty Bowen, Larry Calabrese, chair Robin Kinnel, Ann Kirkpatrick, John and
