in Rochester, Minnesota. The Mayo Clinic decided to interview Gia and as a result
invited her to come to Minnesota for testing. They performed a full neurological
evaluation in October 2024. The Mayo Clinic, our countries' top medical institute,
was unable to diagnose her. After years of searching for anwers, Gia was diagnosed
with a rare autoimmune disease called Primary Bitiary Cholangitis.
Gia needs a Hepatologist, the only specialists that have any knowledge about this
disease, but there are no local options. Next month, Gia is returning to Rochester,
Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic for further treatment. We know Gia's liver has 2
tumors and 1 cyst. She will be put on the transplant list immediately.
The proceeds from the Gala will be used to help with the costs of treatment and
transportation to and from Minnesota.
