Salvatore Alberico - Musician
1929-2012
Sal Alberico appeared on the Stanley stage usually with groups of performers. A clarinetist at age
11, he played his first gig at Palm Grill in East Utica with local musicians Carl Cardarelli and Ray
DeFiore. “They had to get special permission from the Liquor Board for us to be there, and we
couldn’t go into the barroom,” Sal once said, “and we got paid $1.50 on Friday and $2 on Saturday,
plus a covered meatball sandwich and a Coke at the end of the night.” Later switching to the
