From the very inception of Kelberman, Martha Kodsy has been a steadfast supporter,
championing the needs of children and adults with autism and their families. Her journey
with Kelberman is woven into the fabric of her life, shaped by love, resilience and a
profound commitment to service. Martha’s story is deeply personal. She is the proud wife
to late Dr. Raouf Kodsy, and mother to three children. Her youngest,
Mikey, was diagnosed with autism at nearly three-years-old.
Mikey’s older brother, Nicholas, and older sister, Olivia, have played
hugely significant and supportive roles throughout Mikey’s life.
From the moment Mikey began attending the Kelberman Promise
Program, Martha understood the invaluable role that the teachers
there, along with socialization and recreation, played in the lives of children with autism.
Having grown up in New Hartford with Dr. Kelberman's wife, Jennifer, Martha has seen the passion
that inspired the Kelberman family to establish this vital organization. It is a vision that Martha
has wholeheartedly embraced. Martha's late husband, Dr. Raouf Kodsy, also shared this vision. His
profound commitment to supporting Kelberman stemmed from his love for Mikey and his belief in providing opportunities
for people with autism. A sponsor of the Kelberman Walk for Autism from the beginning, Dr. Kodsy's legacy of compassion
continues through Martha. After his passing five years ago, Martha chooses to honor his memory by continuing their
shared mission, sponsoring the Walk for Autism and the Pedal for Autism events. For Martha, these events represent
not just fundraising opportunities, but a celebration of community, awareness and the enduring love for her family.
Beyond her role as a dedicated advocate, Martha is also a business owner who understands the importance of inclusion.
At In Bloom Yoga Studio in New Hartford, she offers a free “Spirit & Spectrum” class every Tuesday for families. All
classes at In Bloom Yoga are designed to be inclusive, fostering a welcoming environment for all. Martha also served on
the Kelberman Board of Directors from 2020 to 2022, bringing her insights and passion to the organization’s mission.
Martha’s generosity, resilience and love illuminate the path for others, ensuring that children and adults with autism have
access to the resources and community they need to thrive. Martha, you are a shining example of compassion in action,
and we are grateful for all that you do!
