The remake of "Aquarius" is just the beginning for this group, who plan to release
more classic remakes and original music throughout the year.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This initiative is part of “PULSE” a youth-driven creative program designed to
empower emerging artists through music, performance, and storytelling. The
program is created by Jovita Bernard, owner of the Academy Of Performing &
Creative Arts (www.APCAMusic.org) with the rhythm section directed by Kelly
Yacco of Kelly’s Drum Lab (315-272-FUNK). Sponsored by Rome Learning Center,
Inc a 501 C3, the program offers hands-on opportunities for talented youth, teens
and young adults to develop their artistic voice and connect with the broader
community.
Community and local businesses that have supported PULSE projects and
performances include, Core Life, Mastrovito Hyundai, First Baptist Church of New
Hartford, Mohawk Valley Church, ABC-NYS and anonymous private donors.

Local Young Performers Reimagine a Classic:
New Generation Breathes Fresh Life into Hair's
Iconic "Aquarius"

A group of talented local youth, teens and young adults are making waves in the
music and performing arts scene with the release of a powerful, fresh take on the
classic song "Aquarius" from the legendary musical Hair. Their new single drops
May 5, 2025 celebrating the spirit of a new era with a modern twist on the 1960s
anthem of hope, unity, and change.
The remake, a vibrant blend of contemporary pop, R&B, and subtle nods to the
original psychedelic rock sound, captures the essence of youth empowerment
and collective optimism. Produced and recorded locally, the single is not only a
celebration of timeless music, but also a tribute to community, collaboration, and
creative expression.
"We wanted to honor the message of 'Aquarius' while also making it our own,"
said Jovita Bernard, co-director of this project. "This is more than just a song — it's
a reminder that this generation has a voice, and we are paving the way for them to
be heard.”
The project, spearheaded by Rome Learning Center, Inc. brought together diverse
young artists, singers and musicians from across this locality. Many of them are
students, aspiring performers, and passionate creatives eager to explore the
transformative power of music and storytelling.
"Seeing these young people take ownership of such a legendary song has been
incredibly inspiring," said Kelly Yacco, co-director. "They’ve not only captured its
spirit, but they've reimagined it in a way that feels urgent and completely of this
moment."
The single will be available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify,
Apple Music, and YouTube Music. A vibrant music video, featuring choreography,
