Canadian Youth Ambassador, Olivia Dey
SELECTION PROCESS:
Out of 600 applications, 30 were chosen to
represent each province. We all had to
identify an issue we were passionate about
and then propose a plan on how to help
change it on a national and global level.
WHAT THE APPLICATION ASKED ME…
Q: Why was it important for you to apply to be
a Canadian youth Ambassador?
A: I have developed a sports-based enrich- Olivia Dey
ment program to support young girls in my
community through my non-profit (Just Like A
Girl). I believe sports can help build
character and prepare youth for life. By
providing a safe environment for young girls
to learn and grow, it helps them integrate in
society and stay away from drugs and abuse.
By being a Canadian Youth Ambassador I
would like to bring this message to youth and
teach them the values of sports. Through my
organization, I would like to level the
ground in sports so girls are able to have
the same opportunities as their male coun-
terparts, as well as provide a path for good
physical and mental health.
WHEN:
March 27th - April 4th in Panama to attend
an education summit
May in Ottawa to be trained by members
of parliament on how to act on our
social change ideas.
