It was a delight to welcome Ms. Chioma Momah, one of our parents and a renowned children’s
author, to Abuja Preparatory School. She shared her journey as a writer, explaining how her
passion for storytelling grew from the desire for her children to read books that reflected
Nigeria’s rich culture rather than just foreign narratives. Her insights into the research and writing
process captivated the students, and her visit ignited a spark in some budding young writers.
Ms. Momah also had a fantastic time engaging with the children—asking and answering
questions and even receiving warm hugs from the Reception class. The excitement of having a
real author in their midst made World Book Day 2025 memorable.
At Abuja Prep, we believe that representation
in literature is vital, and we continue to
promote diversity in our school library by
ensuring a rich collection of books by
Nigerian authors.
