I want to begin by saying congratulations to our Year 6 pupils. 100%
Dof those who wrote the Regent Secondary School entrance exams have
passed and received their place offers. Well done! They have all worked hard, and
we are proud of their achievements. We will hear about the Abuja World Academy
results soon.
We have a busy few weeks ahead as we approach the end of term 2. Tomorrow, we
celebrate World Book Day. The children have all been busy creating characters to
come dressed as. They should use only items they already have at home so there is
no need to go out and buy expensive costumes. They will spend time writing sto-
ries for their character for our writing competition. We will announce the winners

Chioma Momah, who will talk to the children about making writing a career.
She will then visit the reception children to read one of her stories.
We are excitedly preparing for the Times Table Rock Stars Rest of the World
Rocks Competition, which will take place next week from Tuesday, March 11th
to Thursday, March 13th. Our students have historically performed
exceptionally well in this international tournament, and we are confident that
this year will be no different. Please encourage your children to practice, as this
is an opportunity to improve their knowledge of times tables.
I cannot stress enough how essential timetables are for achievement in all areas
of Maths. Whether fractions, measures, shape and space, or problem-solving,
timetables are a key component. In line with expectations in the UK, we aim for
our children to know all of their times tables confidently by the end of year 4.
One way to track how well your children are doing is to check their Heat Maps
on their TTRS platform. We are giving out our first ‘Go Green Certificates’
next week and hope every child from year 4 up will achieve their Go Green
certificates by July.
