In English, our Year 2 students are delving into a literacy sequence featuring stories by well-known
authors, focusing on our favourite, Jill Murphy.

To launch this exciting sequence, the year group participated in a captivating “Conscience Alley” im-
mersion activity after reading Jill Murphy’s story “On the Way Home.” The children arrived in beau-
tiful costumes representing their favourite characters from Jill Murphy’s books, such as “On the Way

Home,” “Mr. Large in Charge,” and “The Worst Witch.”

Jill Murphy, a celebrated British author and illustrator of children’s books, has left a lasting impact
with her “Worst Witch” novels and the “Large Family” picture books. She inspires our students with
her creativity and success.

This immersion activity enhances the children’s literacy skills and vocabulary, equipping them to craft
their own stories in Jill Murphy’s style.
