                                                                                                                                                                   VIDEO
investigate the forces acting on a handmade parachute.
A parachute experiences four main forces during its descent. VIDEO
        1. Gravity pulls the parachute and any attached objects toward the Earth, causing it to de-
                                                                                                                                                                      HERE
            scend.
        2. Air resistance, or drag, acts in the opposite direction, slowing down the parachute’s de- HERE
scent. A larger surface area and shape of the parachute affect the amount of air resist-
            ance it experiences.
        3. Additionally, the air flowing over and under the parachute creates a lift that helps keep it

            stable during its descent.
        4. Finally, the weight of the air itself exerts a force on the parachute, known as air pressure,
adding to the overall resistance experienced by the parachute.
