Danfodio Takes Us East

heme Night is fast becoming one of
the most anticipated traditions in our
T boarding community. Introduced just last
academic year, it gives each hostel a chance to
bring a country to life through food, culture, and
creativity. More than just a dinner, it’s an evening
of teamwork, imagination, and cultural discovery.

First up this term, it was Danfodio Hostel’s turn — and
they took everyone on a trip to Japan. The dining
hall was unrecognisable, transformed with cherry
blossoms, paper lanterns, and the bold red and white
of the Japanese flag. Students arrived in kimonos and
themed outfits, and the menu featured Japanese-
inspired dishes that everyone was eager to try.

Between laughter, music, and the occasional
chopstick struggle, the night captured something
special — a sense of togetherness and pride. Every
detail reflected the effort and creativity of the
Danfodio students and staff, who worked tirelessly
to make the evening memorable. If this is only the
second Theme Night, then the bar has been set
impressively high for the rest to follow.
