This week, the Year 6 Jaguar learner’s experiment focused on investigating chemi-
cal reactions using household materials. First, the learners mixed two tablespoons of
cornstarch with 100ml of water in a beaker to form a starch solution. Next, we added
a few drops of iodine solution to the starch solution and observed the dark blue col-

our, indicating the presence of starch. Then, we used a dropper to add a few drops of
limewater to the starch-iodine solution and observed the colour fade, indicating the
absence of starch. This experiment demonstrated chemical reactions.
