A MASTERPIECE OF
he Regent Secondary School’s Indepen-
dence Day celebration on September
T30, 2024, was a vibrant and memorable
event, filled with cultural displays, exciting ac-
tivities, and national pride.
The day began with a grand assembly, where
the Nigerian flag was hoisted as students and
staff passionately sang the National Anthem.
Mr. Reynolds delivered an inspiring speech on
unity, progress, and Nigeria’s rich heritage.
One highlight was the inter-house decora-
tion competition, where houses transformed
rooms to represent Nigerian tribes, either in a
wedding or royal theme. Noteworthy themes
included Year 9 Senegal’s Ijaw royalty, Year
11 Senegal’s Tiv wedding, and Year 10 Benue’s
Gbagyi display.
The celebration culminated in a fashion show,
with students modeling traditional attire. Con-
go House won, followed by Volta, Senegal, and
Benue.
The day was a resounding success, fostering
cultural appreciation, unity, and patriotism.
