y time playing basketball at the
Regent Secondary School was
M about to end because I was al-
ready preparing for my final examinations.
That was the fuel which powered me to
put all I have got into the game.
Our mismatched squad made up of play-
ers of all ages and abilities, fought our
way around the court. Every basket was
greeted with thunderous applause, while
every foul shot was received with cries of
exasperation. We scrambled and dived for
dropped balls, and our opponents were a
little too strong and moved ahead by four
points. A wave of disappointment over-
came me, leaving a sour aftertaste
despite the thrilling game it had been.
Although we could not get to the top
spot, second place was not bad as well. It
demonstrated our tenacity and coopera-
tion. I hope the junior ones will get the first
place next year.
