Theme Night

DURING THE OBI THEME NIGHT.
he Obi Hostel Theme Night on November 2nd, 2024,
was a vibrant celebration of Igbo culture, immersing
Teveryone in a carefully curated program. It began
with the ceremonial Iwa oji (kola nut breaking) symbolising
unity and respect, followed by the grand coronation of our
new Igwe, my brother, Imam Suleiman, who was introduced
with great fanfare.
Josiah Idoko led an energetic Igbo dance, the Ohafia War
Obi
Dance, capturing the spirit of Igbo rhythm, before we in-
troduced traditional cuisines, starting with Abacha. Wesley
Nnamani, a year 10 student in the hostel and I then show-
cased a slide presentation on the entirety of the Igbo cul-
ture, explaining their cultural significance.
For the main course, guests enjoyed Pounded Yam and
Oha soup with Ofe Onugbu, followed by a model walk by all
our supermodels showcasing Igbo attire. Dessert featured
Nkwobi, a spicy treat made with cow feet boiled with onion

The night ended with heartfelt closing remarks from the
hostel captains, Agabi-Oshen and me, leaving everyone
with a sense of unity and pride in Igbo heritage.
