Book Week

               Dear Parents/Guardians,

This is to notify you that the Regent secondary school will be celebrating English and
International Book week from 2nd – 5th of April 2025.
This year’s Theme; Read your Way and is hoped to be very educative and fun. We
encourage both children and adults to read for pleasure. There would be a variety of
              activities and competitions taking place, such as;

                  • D.E.A.R (Drop everything and read) Ask each student to bring their favourite

book and exchange it with a classmate, ensuring each child explores a new
story! After they’ve read both books, encourage the children to illustrate their
                     favourite characters from each tale.
                  • Storyboard competition by the year 7 form groups on the book title; Holes.
                  • Students to create and illustrate proverbs from various cultures for the Gallery.
                  • Short stories written by KS3 and KS4 will be displayed in the Gallery.
                  • Celebrating favourite Characters and book, Board to be decorated by Year 8
                  • Students to create bookmarks and flyers based on Book Week’s theme, ‘’Read
your way’’ (to be done during English lessons).

                  • Drama presentation, Spelling Bee and lots more.
                  • Photo booth, students to take a photo with their favourite book.
                  • Representatives from several book retail companies will be setting up displays
in the Library for the book fair. If your child/ward wishes to purchase a book
from one of the displays, they will be able to do this with vouchers. A consent
Form has been sent for you to indicate the amount you approve for your child/
ward to spend during the book fair. The school will initially pay the vendors for

these book purchases but you will later have to offset your child/ward’s bills.

We will also be displaying a donation box in the library, if you have books your child
has finished or grown out of, consider donating them to the School Library. Please see
Mrs Okoro (the School Librarian) if you are interested in taking part in this initiative
to extend the range of Fiction books available to TRSS students and to the non-priv-
              ileged schools.

If you have any questions, please see the school librarian or email them to librarian-

secondary@regentschoolabuja.com so that we can answer them in a timely fashion.
