hile I was in secondary school many years ago, we
usually looked forward to the end of examinations,
because it was a time to play, play, and play more
W with less supervision. Please, do not ask me the kind
of school I attended. Nowadays, I know a number of schools that
would instruct the students to stay at home after examinations
because they want the pupils out of the way while the teachers
mark and prepare results.
In contrast, the end of examinations in Regent School is as well as
any other school day; academic activities take place till the end
of the term. Looking in retrospect, I would have preferred to be in
a school like the Regent Secondary School to get the benefit of
learning till the end of the term. Well, a cross-section of the stu-
dents gives their views about the end of examinations on pages
8-9.
The British Council Partner Schools were at The Regent Secondary
School for a Meeting at the beginning of the week. Since it is not
my place to say too much, I will leave you to visit pages 6-7 for a
little feel of what went on there.
Consider speaking on this topic for a debate: “Was COVID-19 a
Blessing or a Curse?” What would your view be? I would say it was
a blessing because it etched in my consciousness the need to
sneeze into my handkerchief or my elbow and to wash my hands
at all times. As you reflect on your own views, you may flip to pag-
es 14-15 to learn about what happens when you sneeze into your
hands.
As usual, there are important announcements and other snip-
pets of information for you as you flip through the pages of this
week’s newsletter. You must read.
