It is a wonderful Saturday evening, and I am lying
on the grainy sand of the beach, looking up at the
baby blue sky. Small, white puffs of clouds blanket
the sky. As I hear shouts of laughter, I get up,

dusting the tiny brown grains of sand off of me. I
see Livia, my best friend, with her bright red hair
and striking eyeliner, laughing heartily with my

enigmatic sister, Jules. They spot me and beckon
me over to them. Putting on my bright, lime green
sandals, I make my way to them and we all sit, as a
light windy breeze washes over our faces. Having
come here to watch the sunset, we silently and

patiently wait, looking at the horizon. Every minute
or two, a cold and foamy wave rinses our feet
before running right back into the ocean.

Over the horizon, the sky turns orange and the ball
In this transcendental moment, the world is of fire looks mystical, as it slowly plans on
ours. The sweet champagne remnants in my disappearing into the deep and majestically blue

mouth, the wind caressing my face, the foamy ocean. The air smells of champagne and salty
waves running back into the deep, salty ocean water. Time seems to stop and I cannot help but
and the laughter ringing in our ears, it is all want to stay in this moment forever.
ours. Only we exist, only we breathe, this
     moment is ours.
The palm trees slowly swing, releasing a whooshing
-Duchu Pradhan sound as the sky starts to turn a slight shade of
pink. The sun sits, already half-sunk in the ocean
with a blazing halo around it. The air turns windy,

caressing my face, and I see a pink-tinted blush
forming on Livia’s pale skin. Jules, mesmerized but
tired, snuggles onto me, and as I stroke her silky

and wavy cinnamon-coloured hair, my body feels
                                                          light.
