RECOGNISING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS IN GAS TRAINING
AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED,
in September 2017, IGEM was
authorised by the industry’s Strategic
Management Board (SMB) to
recognise gas training programmes in
accordance with IGEM/IG/1 Standards
of training in gas work, the official
industry governance document.
In addition, the institution was
granted permission to authorise
qualifying organisations to act as fellow
Recognisers of Training.
The Recognition of Training scheme
was introduced in response to concerns
that some ACS training programmes
did not provide sufficient depth of
knowledge and experience for trainees
to be declared competent.
To offer assurance to the SMB, the
industry and the public, all Recognised
Training Providers must now have their
training audited annually.
This year, all the organisations that had
their training programmes recognised
underwent an audit, carried out by IGEM,
