to reconstruct the gasholder in its
original fashion. FEDS PRESIDENTIAL VISIT
Before they could progress with the
resurrection of the gas holders,
Argent LLP sent each piece of the
frame to Yorkshire to be sanded
down, removing the many layers of
paint and undertaking repairs where
necessary.
Giving the structures a new lease of
life, the Triplets have been painted in a
different shade to No. 8. This is to
emphasise the relationship they have
with each other and their separate
functions. The Triplets, which now
contain luxury apartments, are
finished in a light grey, whereas No. 8
is a darker grey and stands alone,
silhouetted against the skyline.
No. 8 has been created into a public
space, where the landscaping of the
green encourages the visitor to
explore every aspect of the gasholder
and view it and the environment from
different angles.
Attendees were provided with a
guided tour by Morwenna, walking in
the early evening sun around the
public spaces of Gasholder Park and
Wharf Road Viaduct.
