12 Shared wisdom – The Hydrogen Knowledge
Centre
In March, IGEM officially launched
the world class Hydrogen Knowledge
Centre, a new digital library offering
a searchable database of hydrogen
research, reports, data, presentations
and videos. Here, we look at what this
new service has to offer and how it
can improve knowledge sharing of
hydrogen globally
16 High tech solutions – How technology is
supporting the move to integrated energy
Geoff Roberts, Director of Energy
Industry Strategy at Oracle
Construction and Engineering,
discusses the role technology will
play in facilitating a move to digital
transformation for gas businesses,
helping to support reductions in their
carbon emissions
20 The science of standardisation
Dr Arul Murugan, Senior Research
Scientist at the National Physical
Laboratory (NPL) in the Gas and
Particles Metrology Group, explains
the work going on behind the scenes
to produce primary standards for
clean energy gases
24 Preparing for net zero with natural gas
According to Clean Energy Fuels,
natural gas emissions produce 99
per cent less sulphur oxides, 80 per
cent less nitrogen oxides and 40 per 12
cent less carbon dioxide than diesel.
Therefore, as the UK works towards
net zero emissions, using gas engine
technology to fuel power systems can
improve air quality and make this
ambitious target achievable. Martin
Byrne, Sales Manager for Gas Power
Solutions at energy and transportation
expert Finning UK & Ireland, explains
some of the gas-based technologies
helping the UK to reduce its emissions
