Written for students and a wider reading public this book clearly and concisely
offers insights into the foundations of the beliefs and practices of Muslims; the
Qur’an, the Life of the Prophet Muhammad and the code of laws and guidance
that form the Shariah. It also explains something of the rich diversity within and
between Muslim communities. It concludes by explaining through whom, in what
circumstances and in what ways Islam has become established in certain areas and
among certain people in Africa, particularly in Malawi.
