Bone, David S. Introduction to Islam for Malawi. Malawi.
Mzuni Press. 2021. ISBN 978-99960-76-05-3
Written for students and a wider reading public this book clearly and concisely
offers insights into the foundations of the beliefs and practices of Muslims; the
Qur’an, the Life of the Prophet Muhammad and the code of laws and guidance
that form the Shariah. It also explains something of the rich diversity within and
between Muslim communities. It concludes by explaining through whom, in what
circumstances and in what ways Islam has become established in certain areas and
among certain people in Africa, particularly in Malawi.
David Bone, formerly Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at
Chancellor College of the University of Malawi, has had a career in education
teaching about Islam at University, Theological College and Secondary School
levels in Malawi and in his native Scotland. He has researched and written
extensively about the development of Muslim communities in Malawi.
