Hi all
I’m Bob Angle presenter of Simply Country, I have always loved music from as far back as I remember, from the days of radio Luxemburg in the very early 60’s into the swinging 60’s and the Pirate stations in the UK to present day.
I have listened to or been involved in music most of my life, running disco’s back in the day and getting my first taste of radio when I volunteered for our local hospital radio in the 70’s.
This act opened the flood gates for me and I worked in many areas of hospital and local radio, doing request shows, oldies and rock but I hide a guilty secret at that time which was my love of country music both old and new so some years back I was thinking about the music on radio here in the UK and realised that there were not many station (about2) or even country programs on radio to listen too so I decided
to started Simply Country which I hoped would in some small way give a platform to the music and up and coming artists.
I am very happy to say this was a very successful decision to make, as I soon found out that there was a big listenership out there for this music, so Simply Country went from strength to strength.
In doing Simply Country I have discovered many very talented artists, both in the UK and from
around the world and feel very privileged to be able to showcase many new artists on my show.
I now get involved in promoting live music with my partner in an 11th century Church which has fantastic acoustics and we both feel very happy to bring the joy of live music to people in and around the area where we live.
Doing Simply Country has allowed me to expand the music I play and been able to help artists get their music to a wider audience.
Over the year of 2020 which was a trying for everyone I was amazed at the amount of new and quality music that was being produced under these pandemic conditions, here is some of the great artists that I think will be ones to watch in 2021.
