Hello my name is KC Darlin or “kc” kindly referred to by the CEO, John K, a very special Man, and creator of Radiodowntown.ca! This group of us are what he is refering to as Presenters. I am here to give a little ‘share’ of my background and life, and how it relates to Radiodowntown.ca I will start with my personal history today.
The home and family I grew up in was quite musical. Dad was a salesman and demonstrator of housing basics, but mostly carpet, linoleum, and tile. He was a happy go-lucky kind of guy. In his free time he was a singing Baritone, soloist, and actually loved to share his unique presentations with others, one example being singing at Weddings and some Funerals, plus duets with his wife, my mother, and both of them in the Choir at our church.
My Mother was one of those housewifes that sang around the house, she was an alto and Dad was the melody. Many would request them to sing on a certain Sunday, and as a young girl I realized they must have something special if people are ASKING them to sing. I remember one day, as the oldest child of their three, there was a lot of talking in the kitchen, and found out that we were getting a new stereo for the house! I was so excited! It was a radio and record player. We kids were so excited for this delivery! It came and we were looking it over, and I thought this one thing: “WOW it has such beautiful wood construction” quick enough there were rules for that beautiful “stereo”, we called it.
Such a good memory! SO today the reason I am helping and caring for Radiodowntown.ca is because I was asked to asisst, but more than that it is an opportunity for me to do something for others, and learn more about Genre’s and Singers History, or even lyrics, and well who doesn’t like Music??I was not so much of a country music fan, but Radiodowntown convinced me with all the FINE COUNTRY SINGERS out there today that it truly is an enjoyable Genre, and I also like
Music in general.
That “stereo” they called it was a treasured JOY in our Home. Most of the time it played Mario Lanza and much classical music, but once in a while we kids would buy a 45 record with our lunch for school monies, and have “the time of our lives” down on the floor listening at it’s
speakers!! VERY JOYFULLY!
So I truly was unintentionally trained to love music, and I do, always shall! Thank You for the read! All of this is from the Heart, and I will be listening, and helping more and more as time goes by.*I will occasionall be playing (as a presenter) songs that I appreciate, which may be out of some people’s era, but you may grow to
like it as I did!
